GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR

Ko Hikurangi te maunga, Ko Waiapu te awa, Ko Horouta te waka, Ko Ngāti Porou te iwi, Ko O Hine Waiapu te marae, Ko Holmes tōku whānau.

Ben Holmes (Ngāti Porou) is the Managing Director of Holmes Group, leading a collective of businesses including Holmes Construction, Holmes Architecture, Infinite Landscapes, Renalls Joinery, Coresteel Lower North Island, and Holmes Waitaha (Christchurch).

Holmes Construction is a business created close to 70 years ago by his grandfather, Will Holmes, and later continued by his father Tim Holmes and uncle Andy Holmes. This legacy remains a strong foundation for the Group today, with Ben carrying it forward into its next phase of growth.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, Ben has spent time doing every role possible within the industry and at Holmes from Apprentice to Site manager to QS to project manager through to his current role today. This hands-on foundation continues to shape his practical, solutions-focused approach to leadership and delivery.

Since stepping into a wider leadership role, Ben has driven significant growth and transformation across the Group. He has led the strategic acquisition of Holmes Architecture, Infinite Landscapes, and Renalls Joinery, bringing together a complementary set of businesses to create a fully integrated offering across design, construction, and landscape. Under his leadership, Holmes has expanded from its Wairarapa roots into Canterbury while strengthening its presence in Wellington, growing to a team of more than 130 people.

Ben is known for his clear direction, strong commercial acumen, and ability to bring people together. He builds trusted relationships across clients, consultants, and teams, and is deeply committed to delivering quality outcomes while creating a culture that people want to be part of.

He remains closely connected to the work on the ground, with involvement across many of the Group’s key projects, ensuring the values and standards of Holmes are consistently upheld.
